Do your summer internships mainly comprise of doing coffee runs, a hectic working schedule, an office space with no dogs and no time to nap? Does the ocean fascinate you but you never had the opportunity to learn enough about it?
If yes, then you need to join us at Temple Reef Foundation to experience a whole new side of internships! Not only do we have our own coffee machine, a room dedicated to taking naps but also got 4 of our own very cute rescued dogs! Needless to say you get to learn tonnes and what better way to attain knowledge about a field than to be in it? You get to spend a lot of time underwater as a certified scuba diver!
Temple Reef Foundation is the conservation wing of Temple Adventures- a 5-star PADI dive centre and Instructor Development Centre.
Temple Reef Foundation or TRF is a team of budding biologists and conservationists trying to bring about sustainability and conservation as a way of life on both land and underwater.
We at TRF are involved with initiatives like:
- Weekly beach clean-ups
- Environmental education
- Dive Against Debris
- Adopt a Dive Site
- Reef building and monitoring
Along with perusing theories and learning, interns are also exposed to hands-on-field work both on land and out into the ocean! TRF also provides a good platform for networking as you can get in touch with other communities engaging in different sustainable businesses and projects through our nexus of conservation partners in and around Pondicherry
- Need to be a PADI/SSI certified rescue diver- if you are not one already, you can get certified with us at Temple Adventures as a part of your internship!
- Friendly towards pets
- Willing to learn and interact
Take a look at what some of our previous interns have to say about their time at TRF:
“Working for the TRF team was an eye opening experience for me. At the end of the month I understood that an artificial reef is not just a pile of rocks. There is a method in madness.”
– Hansa D.
“Interning with TRF not only let me make a real world contribution to marine conservation but also sensitised me to the different aspects to keep in mind while interacting with our environment. It bridged the gap between me and the environment; I understood that I am part of the environment rather than separate from it. By gaining technical expertise and knowledge, and working in the field directly, I could witness the atrocities of unsustainable practices and learned how to tackle them apply”
“My internship at TRF was one of the best learning experiences I’ve ever had. You have lots of freedom to work on topics that are important to you – in my case Dive Against Debris and a marine life database. On top of that, you get to spend a lot of time in the water – can it get any better?!”
