Scuba diving isn’t just another adventure sport! Witnessing the underwater world for the first time will leave you awe-inspired. It’s another world down there altogether. If you need more convincing, here are 7 reasons why everybody should try scuba diving!

1. 71% of our planet is water

Imagine! 71% of the face of the Earth is covered by water out of which 96.5% of the Earth’s water is the oceans. Not exploring something which comprises such a significant percentage of our planet’s landmass, you are missing out on something BIG.

2. Corals have the highest biodiversity among any other ecosystems

Coral reefs are considered to be the most biodiverse ecosystems of all! They are home to more than 25% of marine life. A study suggests about 2 million species of marine life inhabit coral reefs, beating even the biodiversity of a rainforest. They are colourful and beautiful, the views of which will leave you mesmerised.

3. You’re an underwater astronaut aka aquanaut:

Astronauts get trained in a vast swimming pool to emulate something that happens in space: weightlessness! This is so they can be prepared for spacewalks. Scuba diving gives you a similar feeling when it comes to weightlessness. Isn’t that cool?

4. It’s a fun social activity:

Recreational scuba diving is all about the buddy system. That means, you never dive alone. Meeting new people, sharing experiences, diving together is the most fun thing to do on vacations. You can’t imagine how many like-minded people you will end up meeting and friends you will end up making.

5. Scuba diving keeps you fit physically and mentally:

While scuba diving, you use every muscle of your body, while you swim around the beautiful reefs. Not just your body, but your mind, too, becomes much calmer, increasing your learning. You learn something new every time you go diving, maybe about corals, a new fish you spotted or the oceans and environment in general.

6. You are much happier:

Scuba diving simply adds to your happiness. The reasons are unlimited! Discovering something new underwater, achieving something new, maybe completing a new course. It all provides a sense of achievement and happiness.

7. You will be better travelled than most of your peers:

When you first get certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, it is just the beginning. Slowly, the urge to discover more and the explorer within will start taking you to the most exotic places in the world.

Hope you enjoyed the blog! So what’s holding you back? Don’t you think it’s time to start your own scuba diving journey?

See you guys again soon!
